The City Rail Link (CRL) is a game-changer for Auckland. Not only will the project have a significant impact on improving transport links for the people of Auckland, it is also the largest transport infrastructure project ever to be undertaken in New Zealand.
The CRL Track and Overhead works involves the design and construction of a 3.45km extension of the train line, including 6.5km of concrete slab track, 2.6km of ballast track, and 4200 sleepers.
Martinus was invited to participate in this project at an early stage. We collaborated with CRL, their designers, and Link Alliance through an ‘ECI-lite’ process to refine the design, ensure constructability, and provide a price significantly lower than all previous estimates.
Martinus is now also building connection works into the tunnel, which requires new construction of track and turnouts while trains are running.
